Captain Peter Boettger grew up fishing and crabbing on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.  In 1985 he completed Physician’s Assistant training at Duke University Medical Center and in 2002 he earned an MS in Biology at East Carolina University. Captain Peter has been fishing and hunting the Pamlico since moving to Greenville, NC in 1987. He has remained involved in local environmental activism since that time, including six years of service on the Pamlico-Tar River Foundation’s board of directors from 2004 to 2010.

Now retired from Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, he lives with his wife Linda, and continues to enjoy hunting and fishing with their two sons. His other interests are history, playing traditional music on the fiddle, and writing. Captain Peter is author of Fishing the Western Pamlico, published in 2012.
